AN ALL STAR TRIBUTE TO WAYNE STATIC

On January 20th, the Whisky a Go Go was filled with a room full of friends and family.  All gathering to celebrate the life of Wayne Static (Wayne Richard Wells), who tragically passed away Nov. 1, 2014.  Some of Wayne’s closest friends and fellow musicians came together on stage playing 2 hours worth of the amazing music Wayne Static contributed to this world.  Also in attendance, standing strong even when fighting back tears, Tera Wray (Wayne Static’s wife), gave many powerful and positive words about  Wayne’s life, and future in music.  She revealed that he had showed her 9 new songs before his passing, which she intends to eventually release.

Among the guest appearances of the night, performing the songs of Wayne Static as well as Static X, along side Wayne’s band, were a slew of amazing artists and musicians.  Cristian Machado and Diego Verduzco of ILL NIÑO, Carl Bensley of Snot, vocalist Jay Gordon from Orgy, Aaron Nordstrom from Gemini Syndrome, Nita Strauss from Alice Cooper and The Iron Maidens, Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro, Coal Chamber’s Meegs Rascon, Nero from Psyclon 9, Ron Thunderwood of 9 Electric, and MANY more!  Evil Disco was alive and well and these musicians put on a hell of a show!!  Although the concert was very energetic and powerful, it still was very heavy and emotional at times.  The love, camaraderie, and music fueled the night until the wee hours of the morning.  It was certainly a show not to have missed.

Performing before the Static X band, was none other than Southern California’s own, SNOT.  They’re energetic stage performance was certainly a great addition to this show.  With new front man Carl Bensley absolutely ripping it up, the crowd was instantly energized.  Also getting their chance on stage at this amazing show, was the energetic band 9 Electric, who certainly grabbed the attention and moods of the crowd, setting a mysterious vibe with fog machines and lasers.

Overall, the show was a very positive celebration of a wonderful man’s life.  Everyone seemed to have had an amazing time, and it was great to see so many familiar faces.  It’s unfortunate, the reason everyone came together…but the good thing is, the love in this music family is alive and well!
